FDMS

Fire Damper (FD/MFD) EIS Classified

FDMS - The FDMS is a circular fire damper available in both manual (FD) and motorised (MFD) formats classified for Integrity (E), Insulation (I), and Smoke leakage (S) used to maintain fire performance of fire separating elements where penetrated by air handling ducts. The FDMS fire damper is fitted with a calcium silicate collar which simplifies the installation of the damper and application of the penetration detail. This damper can also be provided in a fully tested version with a VAV actuator to provide additional airflow control in the same way as a variable airflow regulator, effectively combining the function of two dampers into one. For this VAV version the damper casing is extended to allow fitment of the VAV controller and measuring grid.

Specifications

The FDMS fire damper is available in both manual (FD) and motorised (MFD) versions. The manual FD can be operated and functionally tested with an externally resettable manual handle which is locked in the open position and held in place with a fusible link. On thermal activation of the link (at 72°C unless otherwise specified) the damper fails to the closed position. For the MFD, the actuator drives the damper open when powered and tensions an internal spring, the damper will spring close on activation of a thermal fuse (BAT), interruption of the power supply, or activation from a fire damper control system. Unlike other products in the Mandik range the FDMS fire damper includes a plate for direct face fix onto the construction to provide simple installation.
